Tattoo healing badly?

I got a tattoo a week ago today on my wrist and i've been applying a cream that my tattoo artist suggested but I over applied it and the scab is soggy and then goes really dry again....I work in a creche and a child rubbed off it today and some of the scab rubbed off.....Will I defiantly need a touch up now as the black now looks greyish and the red is kinda pinky purple...i'm scared that I have to get a touch up as it was so sore the first time....is there anything I can do?
