Why does my glass of water smell like dog's breath?

I was at my local "A" "bees" on the patio with my boyfriend last night. I ordered a glass of water (not drinking alcohol because I swam in a pool with a boy so I may be prego). The water started smelling like dog's breath. Why does that happen with water outside?
