My cats attacked my hamster, what do i do?
Ok I'm not a mong I know vet but my mum won't take it as it's 3am and we don't have emergency vets near. Basically my cat (who can open doors) got in and took the tube off the cage and long story short I find my hamster in my cats mouth. My cat growled at me as I dragged him from under the bed and opened his mouth to get the hamster. The hamster was covered in saliva and a small amount of this weird orange puss came out of her side. I was convinced she was dead and put her on the floor to check, but then I noticed she was still breathing. My sister said she was suffering and we needed to end her misery.. (I don't know how she supposed I do that, perhaps she meant drowning but I couldn't do that unless I knew she was in agony) Anyway then she got up and limped away quite quickly. She's now back in her cage and is cleaning herself and looks okay except she's still a bit soggy. She's also making a clicking noise, what does this mean? Is it just the adrenaline or is she ok? She's not bleeding and seems ok, just a bit weak. I'm fully prepared for her to not make it (last month similar thing happened with someones pet rabbit we saved from a cats mouth, it didn't have any wounds but I suspected a punctured lung, it was ok until it died the next day). Is there anything I can do to help my hamster? The cats are out and will be for a while!! I know she might be in pain as stuff has come out of the puncture wound. What do you suggest? No nasty comments please I don't want her to suffer but it's happened and my mum can't take it to the vet. Sorry if this has upset anyone. Thanks.
